Great Movies

A great movie can have many definitions.  From dramas to comedies, here are the categories of what can define a great movie (with some examples of coarse).  1.  When you finish watching and just think to yourself, “wow, that was a great frickin’ movie.”  The best example I can think of for this category is Marvel’s The Avengers.  Extremely well made, amazing special effects, and a phenomenal cast to go along with it, when I finished watching it in theatres the only thought I had was, “huh, that was great!”  Okay so moving on.  2.  When you can watch a movie over and over again without getting bored, it is a great movie.  The example I’ll use for this one is probably my favorite movie of all time: The Shawshank Redemption.  No matter what I am watching at the time, if I see Shawshank on any channel, I almost feel obligated to watch it through.  The chronicle of Andy Dufresne is without a doubt one of the all time greats.  Finally, 3. If lines from a movie are still quotes even years after it’s gone, it was probably a great movie.  There is no better example of this then one of Will Ferrell’s masterpieces: Talladega Nights.  From “what do I do with my hands?” to “if you ain’t first your last,” the ballad of Ricky Body has some frequently cited lines that will not be going away any time soon, and in my opinion making it great.
