A Letter To Tiger Woods

Tiger, I’m getting a little sick of this bud.  You are the best golfer in the world, and quite frankly it is time for you to prove it.  In 2012, you were leading or tied for the lead going into the weekend in THREE majors.  Before 2012, your record in this situation has been 14-15!  In the US Open, British Open, and PGA Championship, you showed that your game has grown to a point where you are ready to win.  The time for excuses is over.  Your “swing change” with Sean Foley has been about two years now, more than long enough for you to make a full change.  Your struggles are not physical, but mental.  You have put too much pressure on yourself to break Jack’s record.  If you play to your potential, you will win the five more majors you need to become the winningest golfer of all time, with the ability for many more to add on.  Stop trying to win just to break the record, and win just for the sake of winning, like you had done for so many years and you had done for the 14 majors you have already won.

I do not care that you are a lousy husband and father, I do not care that you have a sex addiction, what I care about is watching you play golf.  Ever since I saw you win the US Open on one leg at Torrey Pines, I have loved watching you do things never done before on the golf course.  Before 2009, you would never blow three 36-hole leads in the same year.  You would never miss a 6-foot putt to extend a match in a World Golf Championship.  You would never go winless in the Ryder Cup.  The fact of the matter is that you are the best in the world and greatest there has ever been in the act of putting a small white ball into a 4.25 diameter hole in the ground.  There has not been anyone better than you and there never will be.  It is time for you once again to show it.
